Week of Action for Animals in Maryland

The week of February 12, 2024

In-person Event: Feb. 14, 2024

Lawyers Mall
State Circle
Annapolis, MD 21401

9:30 am - 11:30 am

Join us in Maryland along with fellow advocates from all over the state to participate in our Week of Action for Animals! This week will include an in-person event on Feb 14, as well as ways you can support the Humane Agenda by contacting your legislators and sharing actions on social media. It's your chance to show lawmakers that animal protection legislation is a priority to Marylanders.

If you are able, please plan to stay for the hearing on legislation to end cruel confinement for egg-laying hens (HB357) and prohibit the use of wild animals in travelling acts (HB379). The hearing will be in the House Environment and Transportation Committee starting at 1pm.

Other Important Information

  • Last day to register for the in-person event is Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
  • Focus will be on battery cage legislation; other priority bills as needed
  • Attendees will hear from bill sponsors, HSUS staff, and coalition partners about the bills (why they matter and what their status is during the session). You will have an opportunity to rally for these reforms as legislators walk past
  • If you are only able to attend virtually, we are working to arrange some Zoom meetings with legislators, so please register and we will let you know if we are able to arrange that for you
  • After the event is concluded, materials will be provided to take to your legislators' offices to ensure your elected officials are aware their constituents were in Annapolis and support the bills
  • The event is outside, without cover, and will be held regardless of weather!
  • If you plan to register someone after yourself, they MUST have a different email address.
  • Please add your mobile number to receive a text reminder and other ways to help animals via your phone (standard rates apply). If you currently receive texts from us, great! You're already set to receive your text reminder.
  • If you have questions, please email Jennifer Bevan-Dangel, Maryland State Director
