Colorado: Contact your legislators NOW and ask them to support SB 31!

The death of an animal is always a tragedy, but even more so when that death is entirely preventable. Trophy hunting is a cruel and unnecessary practice. In Colorado alone, hunters kill hundreds of mountain lions and thousands of bobcats.

The senseless killing of wild animals is not a sport. Yet some people believe that hunting helpless animals is fair game and they value the lifeless bodies they’ve killed as trophies. But we can stop this cruel and needless practice by passing SB 31 this year—which prohibits the trophy hunting and trapping of wild cats in Colorado.

Colorado state legislators will be voting on SB 31 very soon and elected officials need to know that this matters to you. We can't win this fight without YOU!

As a Colorado resident who cares deeply about animals and our natural ecosystem, I urge you to support SB 31 to protect wild cats. 

No animal should be made to suffer for sport and there is no scientifically sound reason to trophy hunt Colorado's wild cats. They’re critical for their ecosystems and even increase biological diversity. They help remove sick prey, like deer and elk, keeping their herds healthier. Research also shows that trophy hunting of wild cats can lead to increased conflicts with humans, pets and livestock because it disrupts their sensitive, social communities.

A majority of Coloradans support a ban on trophy hunting of wild cats, and would much prefer to see these animals alive and thriving in the wild than as a trophy in someone’s living room. Your support of SB 31 could help end the cruel and unnecessary practice of killing native wild cats in our state.
